Shelter-In-Place Playlist

Update: Dallas County is issuing a COVID-19/coronavirus shelter-in-place order. Let’s build a Christian music playlist together and lift each other up! Drop your song suggestions in the comments.

Music is so meaningful in energizing me.

When I get discouraged, I need a boost of joy. When I feel fatigued, music helps me relax and rest my spirit.

And I am trying to be intentional about surrounding myself with good things of the Lord and kindness to others, including myself. I’ve been trying to follow this principle and change up my playlist to Christian music, and I struggle sometimes.

Music Is Good For Us

It is good to praise the Lord and make music to Your name, O Most High.

Psalms 92:1

God is sharing it is good to praise the Lord and make music to His name. I noticed that when I’m putting praise and worship music in my life daily, my spirit is singing it back when I need it.

Specific lyrics that have come back to me in my times of need include I am who You Say I Am — we all need a reminder of the identity God has blessed us with; our worldly titles will come and go, but God’s promise to you never wavers.

So, let’s take our next step together. If God says it’s good, let’s do this together.

Let’s create a playlist. I need new music, and maybe you want a few songs to get started.

Three Songs For Shelter

1. Why God by Austin French: When I’m about to invite myself to a pity party, this song changes my tune real quick.

2. Anchor by Skillet: If you need music with an edge, Skillet definitely will rock you beyond some of the easy-listening Christian music on the radio. When you feel like the storms of life are tossing you about, press play on this one.

3. Surrounded by Michael W. Smith: Alright, I’m an old-school Michael Dubya Smith fan from nineteen ninety something. When I’m facing the impossible, this one reminds me that God’s on my side:

It may look like I’m surrounded, but I’m surrounded by You.

Preach Michael, preach.

Your turn: Drop your favorite praise and worship songs in the comments so I can build out my playlist.
