A beautiful day sure changes perspective. The sunlight lit up every leaf and petal several days ago during last weekend’s walk.
Like most of you, I’ve rediscovered the simple joy of a walk during our COVID quarantine, and while retracing my steps on the same path during this sunny day, I was reminded of the time National Geographic photographer Dewitt Jones mesmerized thousands of us at a conference with his unique way of seeing, What’s Right With The World.
So, looking at the same bluebonnets, but at a different angle, I produced this quick photo shot with my phone:
Look, ombré bluebonnets!

And that tiny bright speck of yellow in the grass? What could be prettier than this little buttercup nestled within a bed of up and coming wildflowers?

It reminded me of my favorite scripture that comforts me away from worry:
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow? They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will He not much more clothe you — you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6:28-34
Really, look a little closer
Even as my pink phlox blooms start to fade, look how beautifully they are clothed, like whirling ballgowns.

So as you take a much-needed rest, take some time to meander outside and soak up God’s masterpieces. My friend Donna was right, even just looking at nature helps me relax and unwind.

Look at these tiny little flowers; they are so beautifully formed. God loves you so much more than the most ornate flower He’s created.
Where is your path guiding you?

Step by step as I unwind, my cares dissolve. My heart listens to the birds, and I’m finally able to be still and know the gentleness and love of God.
This season, I’m continuing to spend time outdoors and meditate in prayer, open to where God is leading me.
Where is your path leading you?
