Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28
Sometimes, my very soul needs rest.
Ever feel weary from the top of your head to your very tips of your toes? God knew you would.
It’s important to rest our bodies, yet this verse from Matthew 11:28 speaks to a deeper need we all have.
The everyday wear and tear of life can wear us down. We carry responsibilities that are enormous, ones quite frankly we weren’t meant to bear. We struggle with the weight of our concerns and, all too often, we do it alone.
God knew you needed a Savior, and He sent Jesus to carry your load.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:29-30
I’m trying to learn from Jesus and hand over my cares and burdens. Sometimes I try to pick up those burdens again and again, like I didn’t even consider that Jesus already picked it up for me.
For the last few days, I’ve been trying to press through a recurring headache and neck pain — and it physically feels like I’m wearing a heavy yoke around my neck. I’m resting and taking care of myself but you know what? A yoke wasn’t meant for one. I’m ready to set this down and hand it over to Jesus.
Friends, let’s lighten our loads together and rest in Him.
❤️
